Alex Clare從小聽著父親的bebop（*節奏快速、旋律複雜，充滿即興的爵士樂）唱片長大，玩小號與鼓是他宣洩過動能量的方式；之後，迷上Dr. John的藍調、爵士樂、靈魂樂、電子樂與英國garage音樂。90年代時，一邊學鋼琴與吉他，一邊接受主廚訓練當作生涯備胎，他從臨摹別人的歌曲，最後在惡搞和弦的過程中摸索出自我風格。Alex Clare總是竭盡心力地譜寫最動人的歌詞，費盡心思的在超強重低音與鼓擊節奏脈搏中營造出最迷人的旋律，展現歌曲最巨大的情感力道。

Alex的首張專輯【The Lateness Of The Hour】，由製作組合Diplo & Swith（碧昂絲、M.I.A.）掌舵製作。專輯揉合了靈魂樂、爵士樂、放克、龐克與dubstep等元素，當中有美國西岸龐克搖滾風格的"Up All Night"，由極簡電子樂突變成咆哮電子搖滾的"Relax My Beloved"，重度憂鬱氛圍的"Whispering"，還有以超靚電子樂風格改造放克音樂玩家Prince/王子的1984年冠軍大作"When Doves Cry"。
